Our fifth week features 6 films from Iran, Argentina, Portugal, US, and India. They all reflect on the realities of the quarantine through playing with form, exploring the lockdown through animation, essay-style filmmaking, slow-cinema, and long takes.
"SELFIE" by Paulo Fajardo
Paulo César Fajardo was born in Figueira da Foz, in1980, Portugal. Developed various documentary projects as an independent producer and made his directorial debut in 2000 with the short film “Outono/Fall”. Worked as a freelancer camera operator, editor and director for several TV shows for national and international networks. Finished in 2011 his first feature film “Summer Dream” and in 2012 created the web tv BairradaTV. He now works as a freelancer news camera operator and editor for the SIC and SIC Notícias tv news channels.
From Paulo: "A selfie that tells Rosa's story in the first person. A mother with dreams, wishes and beliefs in the future. A short film produced in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic and was recorded with a Smartphone HUAWEI Y6 (model: ATU-L21)."

"In My Own Skin: Multitude Solitude" by Joseph Puglisi
From Joseph: "During quarantine I spent my time photographing the tulip blossoms in the walled garden of famous landscape designer, Ronald van der Hilst. My time therefore seemed to be a bit Shakespearean: a sort of quarantine within a quarantine. This is one of the meditative poems I created to document my isolation."

Raghav Byala is a Visual Design Sophomore, at Delhi Technological University, Delhi, India. Deeply intrigued by animation ever since he was child, he keeps exploring the discipline and works towards crafting his imagination into actualization.
'COVID 19- The Face Off!' is a short animation that brings to you the face-off between Humanity and the CoronaVirus, an ironic take on a situation we all face today.
"BODY OF HOPE" by Victoria Ric
Victoria Ric is a Bolivian actress based in New York City. She started her acting career in Barcelona, Spain 15 years ago in the Nancy Tuñón-Jordi Olivé Studio. She continued her education with teachers like Nickolay Mijailovich Kirichenko, from the Kupala Theatre in Minsk amongst other great names. Back in Bolivia, she explored different contemporary dance techniques, writing poetry and combining them with her acting background in order to explore new expression languages while she kept working in films and theater. Over the last 2 years, she has worked and lived in New York City.
